This idea can work!

You scrapped the name “iSmell,” right? No one likes saying “I smell” out loud. It’s embarrassing. Something like “iScent” avoids the issue. Or better yet, remove yourself form the iPod bandwagon. Hire someone like Lexicon to generate something fantastic.

Also, I don’t want to smell cooking fish or rancid jail cells. At least not yet– start me off easy and ground me in something familiar. I do like the idea of smelling candles, flowers, lotions, perfumes, etc. online before purchasing them. Needs to be pretty perfect though. You perfect?

You need visibility. You need the iScent version of the iPod’s WHITE headphones. It’s not too tough. Do something like this. In a busy public space, pump out a scent that is unexpected– say, oranges. So someone’s walking along and, BAM, they’re struck with the smell of oranges. Refreshing. And right in their view is a sign that says “Does anyone else smell oranges?” It’s a nice marketing campaign.

I’m only just getting started. I need to get back to work. Summer internship, please.

Although a good idea, i fear that this cannot be done. If I am proved wrong however, i think that it will be quite expensive, much too expensive and large, and time consuming. I believe that it will not come to life because you will have to obtain these smells, and some of the best movies of all time are violent, therefore, you would have to kill someone and leave them in the sun for a week to obtain the smell of death, for such movies as scarface and 300, or SCI MIAMI or NCIS. Although the idea was promising, i feel that you failed to take into account details that could be offensive or vile. Very Sorry, but you havn’t thought it through very well.

Also, you could limit the smells so bad smells cannot be produced at all.

You know what I think? I think the other companies are JEALOUS. The power of smell is very important- without it we would not be human.

It’s an amazing idea. Imagine, while playing Halo or something you can smell the fresh air and the damp rain forest, and take your revenge on those stinky Covenant…

It’s awesome! You can try out perfumes etc before you buy them.

I think adding a heater/cooler system to produce heat and cold during different scenes in a movie is also cool.

So go on with the idea and improve on it and make it better. Don’t let those jealous companies hold you back. Also, I would like to buy one. Do you still sell iSmell?

I “landed” on this site in search of finding a company who mixed personal oil scents – I am a great believer in aromatherapy and kudos to you for reaching out with ths idea; life is all about engaging all of our senses. For myslef, watching something with cascading waterfalls, mountains, lakes, etc. while inhaling deeply of scents that relax the nerves and soothe the mind works for me! Don’t give up the stage for nay sayers!
